Som Du Bäddar [English translation]
Som Du Bäddar [English translation]
It's almost twelve but I'll be drinking the champagne alone
As Stockholm starts the countdown I give myself a hug1
I wonder where you are, I wonder what you're doing tonight?
I take the first fag 2 of the year on the balcony, as the snow falls over the city
All (my) friends have gone home, now it's just me (left)3
Time freezes but our song goes on repeat
I've texted you two thousand times but get nothing back 4
But on the answerer I hear your voice and it's music to my ears 5
You sleep in the bed you made yourself 6
You must be true to your word
You sleep in the bed you made yourself
You must stand for what you have done
You made your bed... (I don't know what I did)7
...now sleep in it (I have to stand by my word)8
You made your bed...(yes, I should have listened)
...now sleep in it (to what your mom said)
There's a turned down picture9 on my nightstand
We're standing there in a rainy Siena in a completely different life, mmm.
I remember it as a dream, a fairy tale, a fantasy
You sleep in the bed you made yourself
You must be true to your word
You sleep in the bed you made yourself
You must stand for what you have done
You made your bed... (I don't know what I did)
...now sleep in it (I have to stand by my word)
You made your bed...(yes, I should have listened)
...now sleep in it (to what your mom said)
Time heals all wounds
In our winter we are small clouds
You sleep in the bed you made
You must be true to your word
You sleep in the bed you made
You must stand for what you have done
You made your bed... (I know what I did)
...now sleep in it (I must stand for what I did)
You made your bed... (yes, I should have listened)
...now sleep in it (to what you mom said)
1. or "I embrace myself" 2. cigarette3. could write as "Everybody have gone home, I'm on my own"4. or "get no answer"5. literally it would be "and it's like music"6. I reversed the order in English, saying "You've made your bed, now sleep in it" sounds odd to me...idk)7. the reason for going back to said unidiomatic phrase is due to how the chorus work, with the chanting and all. It still doesn't make much sense in English to me, but the sayings in Swedish gives a Swede the connotation necessary to make sense of it, if you get what I'm saying :s 8. actually "val" means choice, but eh...doesn't sound as good to me9. photo
