On fait comme si . . . [English translation]
On fait comme si . . . [English translation]
Let’s just pretend...
There’s a strange silence in the street
like an unexpected Sunday.
A man is singing on his balcony across the way
while the woman next door accompanies him on violin.
We did what we could to reassure the kids:
We’re on some kind of adventure.
We stuck their drawings on the refrigerator door.
We turned off the television news.
Let’s just pretend
it’s all a game.
Let’s just pretend
and do as best as we can.
When it’s time for bed
and we close our eyes,
let’s just pretend
the world’s still a happy place!
Let’s just pretend
none of this is happening.
Parents, friends:
we’ll be together again!
And even though
we’re missing out on the Spring
--I know in my heart--
the world will be reborn again!
Though there’s a lot of fear
laughter can still be heard.
Being apart brings us closer together.
Although there's not much to talk about
except the weather:
Just be sure to call!
Refrain
There’s a strange silence in the street today
one more in a string of Sundays.
Have no doubt that our lives will be more beautiful.
Just be sure to call!
