Each year, I'd burst into flower four times,

I'd open for the boy, I'd open for the girl,

I'd open for true love, and for passing away

If I were a gate, I'd always stand open

No matter where they'd come from,1 I would let anyone in

I wouldn't ask: Well, who sent you here?

I would be happy, when everyone has come

If I were a window, I would be so large,

That the entire world could be seen2

With understanding eyes. they would look through me,

I would be happy, when I've shown everything

If I were a street, I would always be clean

Every single night, I would bath in light

And if one day, tanks crawlers tread over me3

Even the earth below, would crumble in tears

If i were a flag, I would never flap in the wind4

I would be the bane to all winds5

I would be happy, if they stretched me out,6

So I'd be no toy, to every passing breeze7

1. Wherever they come from2. that the entire world would become seen3. And if once sprocket-wheels (like those on tanks) would tread on me4. "lobogni" means: fly free, or fly loose 5. I would be anger/displeased, to all winds6. If they strung me out 7. And I wouldn't be a plaything, to all kinds of winds
