ניגונה של השכונה [Niguna Shel Hashkhuna] [English translation]
There were days-there were days,
when we were still children.
You'll find everything in the albums,
friends might say.
We were a group together-
we collected wood on the boulevard.
At the bonfire around the fire,
we sang, that was singing.
That's how we were in the neighborhood,
that's how it was all year long,
we thought that to sing was to have a good time,
those were the days-those were the nights.
We went through the same things,
and we were already teenagers.
We weaved a thousand tales,
we heaped a thousand songs.
We discovered love,
we knew disappointment.
We knew 'bad' and 'good'-more,
and we always continued to sing.
That's how we were in the neighborhood,
that's how it was all year long,
we thought that to sing was to have a good time,
those were the days-those were the nights.
There are those who say, we have already matured-
everything has turned to be old*.
We didn't take anything from then,
except for an old, old** song.
One is a CEO-another a soldier,
a third bridles a horse in the village.
One became an emigrant,
and I continue to sing here.
That's how it is now in the neighborhood,
the neighborhood has already emptied.
No boulevard and no garden'
only a tune is left.
I will always remember in every corner,
the sound of the neighborhood.
