Беспечный русский бродяга [Besbechnyj russkij brodyaga] [English translation]
I'm a careless Russian tramp,
I was born on the banks of the Volga river.
I ate that people gave and drank that God sent me,
Accompanied by songs of the nightingale and orioles.
I drank in Petersburg and I drank in Moscow,
I drank in Kostroma and Ryazan,
I drank Scotch whisky Lagavulin and Laphroaig,
With the grass and mushrooms as hors-d'oeuvres.
Once in Vyatka I was very bad/lean man,
But nearer to Barnaul I became frisky one.
I had the worst hangover in my whole life
After eight days having been sober.
I've fallen into the Yenisei, I got out of the Neva,
Although, maybe it was the Pripyat.
But after I got out of river elegantly dry,
I've found here at once someone to drink with me.
I was born alone and I'll die alone.
But in order not to get lost in the world
Each railroad car, which goes along the earth,
is served by the same lady conductor.
And in my life I'm an anchoret,
I'm a prayerful and carefree man,
But in ordinary day I save two or three people,
And in the righteous night I save up to 300 ones.
I sat and drank on the Glastonbury Tor,
I haven't noticed myself how I got deadly drunk,
I remember how I was tempted by one demon.
It's clear that I didn't succumb to him.
And everything above is the same as it's below,
And the soul is just like a thrust in a furnace.
Where ever I go to, there's the Eden around
'cause I'm a careless Russian tramp.
