Bailão [English translation]
Bailão [English translation]
I dive in with both feet
In love, I give all of me
I don't even need to think
There's no excuse
I know life's too short
To not let yourself get carried away sometimes
When it comes to an end
Pain comes creeping in
And all I can do is cry
But then I get myself dolled up,
I get my pint glass ready1
Bring on the next round
'Cause tonight I'm gonna get crazy
(x2)
I'm off to the hoedown
Find a cure in the crowd
For this love that has my head spinning around,
My heart hammering so loud
It keeps aching the whole night through
Stirs me up and spins me loose
Kicks up its heels and leaves me flat on the ground
I'm off to the hoedown
To cure myself of this passion
That thinks I'm some kind of sucker
When they speak of love
(And they'd be right!)
Treats me like a doormat
Knows just where my weak points are at
But this old goat2
Is gonna learn its lesson
I spin my partner one, two, three
I kiss one, kiss two, kiss three
Until I fall in love
And it happens all over again
(x2)
I'm off to the hoedown
Find a cure in the crowd
For this love that has my head spinning around,
My heart hammering so loud
It keeps aching the whole night through
Stirs me up and spins me loose
Kicks up its heels and leaves me flat on the ground
I'm off to the hoedown
To cure myself of this passion
That thinks I'm some kind of sucker
When they speak of love
(And they'd be right!)
Treats me like a doormat
Knows just where my weak points are at
But this old goat
Is gonna learn its lesson
I knock back one, two, three3
I kiss one, kiss two, kiss three
Until I fall in love
And it happens all over again
I turn one, two, three
I kiss one, kiss two, kiss three
Until I fall in love
And it happens all over again

1. "Litrão" doesn't exactly mean 'pint glass' but it's the same concept. It's a vessel that you put alcohol in. (For a more exact idea, I'd just Google image search the word "litrao" itself.)2. "Cabra-safada" is a little bit stronger of a phrase than just 'old goat'-- it's more of the kind of thing you'd yell at the person who just stole your boyfriend-- but I chose that phrase because all the rest sound very awkward, and also, 'cabra' means 'goat'.3. I put a different interpretation here of "virar"-- literally, it means 'to turn, to tip', and in the first translation I had it as 'spin my partner'. However, in the track-by-track Gabeu did for this song, it seemed to be suggested that 'virar' can also refer to finishing a drink. I don't know enough to say definitively so I thought I'd add in this second interpretation here. Corrections on this are appreciated!
