Avrai ragione tu [Ritratto] [English translation]
Avrai ragione tu [Ritratto] [English translation]
1
Capa-sound, with the rage we can feel in the air, it's like:
«Hey, I'm wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt and I'm going to CasaPound's!».2
Boar faces give me a knocking and a leathering,
they crush me like carasau bread.3
I'm mad, come after me in my every step,
I break through the shop windows of a Scientology building while honking,
wearing low-heeled boots,
I kick them while shouting: «You liars, I'll kill you!!».4
I should act as an adult? No way!
Come with me, let's smash everything in Seattle.5
Naked, in the Red Square, with my bollocks in a colback, I dance like the Pussy Riots.6
And in my head I hear Soviet choruses:
they are coming for me, they are like payment reminders.
They defeated Napoleon, do you realize that?,
they defeated Hitler, and to me...
They say I must calm down and take a deep breath.
They say I must take my dog away from that official car.7
They say it's not okay to turn the table football buddies upside down.8
All right, all right. But, also...
They say I shouldn't compare faith to slavery.9
They say I should kiss you on your lips like t.A.T.u..10
They say they'll send me up into the sky like a Sojuz.11
Okay, all right, all right, all right, you must be right.
I have serious obsessions, man;
they pull my legs, like chairs.12
It's like when you suffer from schizophrenia
and the priest convinces you that you're being possessed by the Devil.
In front of a piano, I have visions,
like you, who come closer and ask me: «Allevi, will you play?».13
I should try and heal, but, in confidence,
my chances are smaller than those of the weather forecast.
Maybe I'll apologize to Lega Nord members,
maybe I'll write, in huge characters,
"I want a free Padania, out of Europe",
just for the pleasure of calling you "wogs".
I'll apologize to clubbers, posers, politicians,
elves, warthogs, gnomes and kings,14
otherwise they'll say «Artists are communists»;
you just have communists inside your head, just like me.
They say I must calm down and take a deep breath.
They say I must take my dog away from that official car.
They say it's not okay to turn the table football buddies upside down.
All right, all right. But, also...
They say I shouldn't compare faith to slavery.
They say I should kiss you on your lips like t.A.T.u..
They say they'll send me up into the sky like a Sojuz.
Okay, all right, all right, all right, you must be right.
Those boys who were too eager, it's all their fault:
I was looking for a little recognition and they told me to sod off.
Now I'm watching them from the platform,
after I have tied them up and placed them on the railroad tracks;15
I'm a train travelling at about 40,
but my adrenaline hasn't worn off yet,
I should be placid like De André,
I'm like the rapper André: at 3000!,
with the will to jump on every stage.16
In this madmen cage, they are all hawks
and they get rounds of applause, right, but embarrassing ones,
like people clapping after a landing.17
And you ask me: «Name the names», yeah, sure,
doctor Živago told me: «Be vague».18
And now I find myself with electrodes on my head,
the Russians yelling: «Come on, be a good lad, withdraw your views!».19
They say I must calm down and take a deep breath.
They say I must take my dog away from that official car.
They say it's not okay to turn the table football buddies upside down.
All right, all right. But, also...
They say I shouldn't compare faith to slavery.
They say I should kiss you on your lips like t.A.T.u..
They say they'll send me up into the sky like a Sojuz.
Okay, all right, all right, all right, you must be right.
Communist Caparezza, do svidanija.20
Communist Caparezza, do svidanija.
1. A comment by Caparezza:
I apologize to all the targets of my invectives (effectively, I withdraw my positions), but only because I was ordered to by the platoon of Bolsheviks dwelling in my head. This is madness, or the kiss between Leonìd Brèžnev and Erich Honecker portrayed by Dmitri Vrubel on the Berlin's wall."
Every song of the album Museica makes a reference to a piece of art. For this song, it is Mein Gott, hilf mir, diese tödliche Liebe zu überleben by the Russian painter Dmitri Vrubel ("My God, help me survive this deadly love"; in Russian Господи! Помоги мне выжить среди этой смертной любви; also called Bruderkuß, "Brotherly kiss"), a graffiti painted on the Berlin's wall in 1990.
The opera reproduces the kiss between Leonìd Il'ìč Brèžnev (leader of the Soviet Union) and Erich Honecker (minister of East Germany) in 1979, framed in a famous photograph.
People who talk about inconvenient matters are often accused of being communists. Caparezza jokes about it.
ritratto = portrait. (a reference to art)
ritratto = I withdraw (my ideas).2. Capa-sound = the music style of Caparezza.
CasaPound {House Pound} is an Italian far-right, neo-fascist political movement. So it's at the opposite end of the political spectrum from Che Guevara.
The inconvenient subjects Caparezza talks about cause a violent reaction, like that of CasaPound against political opponents.3. pane carasau {carasau bread} (or carta da musica {music paper}) = bread from Sardinia, very thin, crisp and crumbly.4. Joking about his madness, he says he acts wild, just like his opponents depict him. He behaves like a black bloc member.
Scientology is an organization spreading pseudo-religious beliefs, skilled at brainwashing its adepts, so Caparezza is not fond of them.5. Seattle has been the scene of a really violent clash between the police and the protesters on 30 November 1999, during the WTO conference (World Trade Organization). The "People of Seattle" movement, later known as "No Global", was born there.
On 1 May 2002 there were other disorders in Seattle, during the "Occupy Seattle" protest.6. pacco = package.
(slang) pacco = lunchbox.
The Red Square is the main square of Moscow.
The colback is a typical Russian fur hat.
Pussy Riot is a Russian female punk rock group. On 21 February 2012, as a protest against the rielection of the president-dictator Vladimir Putin, the Pussy Riots performed in the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow, playing a song deemed blaspheme, dancing amuck. Three of the Pussy Riots were then arrested and sentenced for their opposition to Putin.7. auto blu {blue car} = car used by politicians or other public officials while performing their duty. They are called like that because they are usually dark blue.
A dog taking a pee on the wheels of an official car is a metaphor of the despise Caparezza feels for bad politics.8. Table football buddies are useless when upside down. It's just a way to "break the rules" and maybe be annoying.
Moreover:
calciobalilla = table football.
balilla = a young Fascist kid.
The Fascist leader Benito Mussolini was killed and hanged upside down when World War II was almost over.9. In many songs, Caparezza criticised religion (Il dito medio di Galileo, Non mettere le mani in tasca, etc.)10. t.A.T.u. is a Russian female duo, also famous for their song All the things she said about a homosexual love, and for their kissing on the stage during concerts.
Caparezza should make up with people criticising him, he should even kiss them on their mouth.11. spedire in cielo = send to the sky.
spedire in cielo = send sb to meet his maker.
Sojuz (Сою́з, Union) is a series of Soviet space vehicles.12. Caparezza is obsessed by the communist voices in his head. He is derided for that.
prendere per il sedere/culo {take sb by his bottom/ass} = pull sb's legs, mock.
Chairs are "per il sedere" {for the bottom} because you place your bottom on them.13. Always in his fake condition of a man obsessed by communists, Caparezza is experiencing hallucinations.
Giovanni Allevi is a famous pianist who has hair very similar to that of Caparezza.14. Lega Nord {North League} is an Italian political party supporting the independence of the northern regions from the rest of Italy. These regions form the pianura Padana {the plain of river Po}, which they call "Padania", as if it were a country of its own.
They hate "terroni" (derogatory term for southern people), "negri" {niggers} and "extracomunitari" (literally "non-UE citizens", though it's a derogatory term for strangers and migrants). Lately, they wanted Italy (or Padania) to get out of the EU, because of the austerity.
Caparezza has annoyed many people with his songs, so he apologizes to every Tom, Dick and Harry (elves, warthogs, etc.).
He also apologises to North League members (which he mocked in his song Inno verdano), but he does that with scathing irony: if Padania were outside the EU, they, too, would be technically "extracomunitari", just like those people they despise so much.15. mandare qlcn a cagare {send sb to take a poop} = tell someone to fuck off.
At the beginning of his career, Caparezza was looking for recognition in the hip-hop community, but he was harshly turned down (and he still is); he talks about that in his song Habemus Capa, for instance.
Now he's taking his revenge on those people.
There is a play on words between "mandare a cagare" {sod off} and "Gagarin", and between "cercare spazio" (lit. "seek space", seek recognition) and the outer space.
Jurij Alekseevič Gagarin was a Soviet astronaut, the first man to successfully travel to space.16. Caparezza has a lot of energy, especially during his concerts. He turned 40 (years; he's "travelling around 40"), but he still has the power of a train (travelling at 40 km/h).
Given his age, he should be as calm as the singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André; instead, he's always enthusiastic, he's "at 3000" (like an engine spinning at 3000rpm).
André Lauren "André 3000" Benjamin is an American rapper.17. Gabbia di matti {madmen cage} = group of people (or place with people) who behave in an absurd way.
falco {hawk} = person who is always ready to attack or criticise someone else, or to take advantage of him.
Sometimes, the meanest people are the most appreciated (they gets applauses); this is a reproachful ("embarrassing") thing.
Often, when a plane lands, Italian passengers claps the pilot; it's an absurd behavior, as though it was an exceptional thing for the pilot not to make them crash to the ground.18. Caparezza's detractors dare him to spit out the names of those he's accusing; but he keeps silent, with the excuse that his doctor told him to.
Doctor Živago is a 1957 novel by the Russian poet Boris Leonidovič Pasternak.19. Given the resistance from Caparezza, the Russians get tougher, and they use electroshock.20. In Russian, do svidanija = "Goodbye" (До свидaния).
