Once my father

came out of work early

and dressed me up in my best

and took me at square

I was still a child

Only five years old

but I remember everybody smiling,

the solemn and happy town

I didn't understand the flagging crowd,

I only knew that something important was going on,

and then I felt my father's strong embrace and he said:

"My son, look and remember this!"

It was then that I saw Tito first time

At the school was taught everything

about him, but only

the lived life explained as

what kind of a man Broz was.

I was just a young guy

Before I started to play the gig,

I heard the news

what might be happening.

There I stood with my guitar in the front of a crowd

I saw my childhood, liberty, peace,

brotherhood, unity,

in the front of me, smiling eternally

It was then that I saw Tito second time

On May 5th, all the way from Skopje

every train station was full of people

everywhere,

just silence, no misery

Bitola, Maribor, Rijeka

Niksic, Zenica, Bol

And every one and every house

prayed for his soul

But I saw the blast furnaces

the factory chimney smoke, thriving fields

and the cities of freely living children,

peace and flocks of birds.

And once again I saw Marshal Tito

this legend, the Liberator

this man, Comrade and the Fighter,

and once again I saw Tito everywhere.
