Поговори со мной [Pogovori so mnoy] [English translation]
Поговори со мной [Pogovori so mnoy] [English translation]
I'm getting used to being unlucky in love.1
I tell myself all the time: "It's OK, I don't give a damn...
What's happened - has happened. What is to be - will be.
I forgot him - well, does it matter? He'll forget me, big deal!".
My lipstick got colour of wine - it's my fault.
Whoever is next to me - I feel lonely anyway.
And I really need silence 24 hours a day,
Too seldom I understand unfunny jokes.
I'm not blessed with my temper.
Fickle as the wind,2it's just the way I am
I'll settle down when I find for me the one
Who'll be the same as me: faithful3, out of this world4
People say - it's impossible,
All men hate strong and complicated women.
But success to me means being able to succeed in everything:
Both to hear children laugh and to keep staying at the top of the charts...5
Refrain:
Talk about work to me, or talk about TV, or if I believe in love?
About those who stuck in the sphere, where material values drag down.6
Talk to me about whatever, talk about work, or if I believe in love?
About TV and those who stuck in the sphere, where material values drag down.
About whomever...
What's more important - to be bound by marriage, or to be free?
Where are you, the man for whom I'll be the one.
I chose to be wise, rather than to be young.
The career and family can be combined if at home you are loved.
If I'll be understood there, simply, without hysterics -
I will give myself up to him, to his heart's content.7
But in the meantime I carry on my life wondering about whom you will go to sleep with.
How I'm going to live with it, before you find me?
Refrain:
Talk about work to me, or talk about TV, or if I believe in love?
About those who stuck in the sphere, where material values drag down
Talk to me about whatever, talk about work, or if I believe in love?
About TV and those who stuck in the sphere, where material values drag down.
About whomever...
Talk about work to me, or talk about TV, or if I believe in love?
About those who stuck in the sphere, where material values drag down
Talk to me about whatever, talk about work, or if I believe in love?
About TV and those who stuck in the sphere, where material values drag down.
About whomever!
About whomever!
About whomever.
1. Lit. "I'm getting used to everything not going well for me" but the meaning is that she doesn't have happy love affairs.2. "Десять пятниц на неделю" is a derivation from the russian idiom "To have seven fridays a week". For example, "He's got seven fridays a week". That means this person is not constant or loyal in affections, not firm or steady in behavior, opinion.3. Funny thing, first she says about herself being fickle, and now she says she is faithful. So she's got really seven fridays a week!4. "Out of this world" - an english idiom, meaning "extraordinary, superb", but yet the russian "неземной" I believe has a bit different meaning here, I'd say "so faithful, as no one can be on earth nowdays any more".5. Lit. "(Being able) To hear children laugh and (at the same time being able) to sing from the top".6. I will not insist on translating this line this way, 'cause it's possible understand it the way Phil Ambro did in his translation.7. Lit. "Till I'll lose pulse (heart-beat)" I failed to find a proper idiom in english, the one I used, "to one's heart's content" means "To one's entire satisfaction, without limitation".
