J'attends la vague [English translation]
J'attends la vague [English translation]
[Solo Verse: Bigflo]
I wait for the wave of the sea of my tears
I wait for the wave, for now I have a hazy soul1
It schemes on my back, prepares plans in secret
One day everything will be payed for, nothing will be sold
I see hate everywhere, relationships make me sick
I'm afraid of the people I love 'cause I trusted them with my heart
Everyone hears me yet nobody listens
I dream of green bills2, yet the ones who have them disgust me
I have, a heart that cries, eyes that bleed
You hurt me so much, don't tell me that you love me
My soulmate must be lost somewhere in China
But fame will transform the ugly duckling into a swan
The mic consoles me, it alone advises me
Who are these people who come to see my concerts?
These jerks want us to shut up
There are a lotta things that appall me
But there's also my mom who has cancer
So there's not much more than that that concerns me
I'm afraid of the afterlife, of the paranormal
I pray to find faith, rather paradoxical
Tonight, the light turns off on the circus
Egotistical, I don't think about anything but my records
Certain people say that I've changed, they're telling lies
I'm not from here, I miss my planet
I think about all these times where someone humiliated me
Don't worry about your son, Dad. He's making thousands
Florian, be a man. One day you'll be a dad
Sometimes I'm ashamed of hanging out with Peter Pan
But I'm too scared of losing him3
Life versus death, religion versus science
The stars open their arms to me, but can I trust them?
The rapper life between the phrases and the flow
My friends tell me they're scared that the Big overpowers the Flo
I'm an inventor. I'll win the Lépine challenge
Life gave me a flower4, but I'm much too scared of thorns
And I rap for the un-cool, I rap for my bros,
For the discreet looks from those who've already seen Hell
For those lost types that daydream at the back of the classroom
For this fragile child who doesn't like to see herself in the mirror
For those who don't really like to hang out late in clubs or bars
For those who cry at night, all alone in the dark
Because if your boat sinks, I'll bring you a sail
Because I promised my brother that we'd touch the stars
I'm bling-bling, yeah, that's one of my flaws
They brought my grandpa by boat
So I gotta leave by yacht
And I dream of the front page
I'm married to my pen
I cheat on her with the moon
And then I want to believe in God
I'll have to make a compromise
How do you want me to see it, without eyes?
My brother is the same as me, but better
Let it go, Flo
Let the water flow
Carried away by the flood
I'm the prince of a sand castle, unstable
With my eyes fixed on the sea, I wait for the wave
1. He means that he is melancholy2. could mean either US dollars (any amount) or the green euro (£100)3. He's ashamed of sometimes being immature or acting as if he was still 10 years old, but he refuses to lose Peter Pan because he must admit that behaving like a child from time to time, being carefree and spontaneous does no harm. "I'm ashamed to hang out with Peter Pan" echoes and opposes the role of man and father that he will one day have to assume.4. (A French idiom, like life gave him something, but it has bad side effects) Life is good with Bigflo, but he is afraid that, like roses, it is a thorny gift that involves pain.
