In that fadista neighbourhood

The guitars remain silent

You don't sing on this day

Old parochial tradition

Chimes fill the air

There is a festa in Mouraria

Rich quilts in the windows

Petals loose on the ground

Believing souls, crude people

Walk in faith through the alleys

It is procession day

Of our Lady of Saude

After a short rumble

Profound silence hangs

Over Largo da Guia

The Virgin passes on a litter

All kneel and pray

Even Rosa Maria

As if petrified

In fervent prayer

Such is her attitude

That Rosa in shedding her petals

In Rua do Capelão
