Balladen om det stora slagsmålet på Tegelbacken [English translation]
Balladen om det stora slagsmålet på Tegelbacken [English translation]
(Verse 1)
In the month of january year 1903
A bunch of goons from Kungsholm where seen marching east
While carrying their bottles and with caps mounted on the side
They where fighting cause they were never included
It was the boys from Stockholm, it was boys with character
It was the boys who where in one hell of a mood
And with brass knuckles and spears and with their blood boiling red
Heading to Tegelbacken to set things straight
(Verse 2)
And the same night, all had gathered next to Brunkeberg
A merry bunch who were frothing from Klara's ale and cider and marrow gravy.
There was no room for maybe when a fight had begun
They where fighting because everything was so wrong
It was the boys from Stockholm, it was boys with character..
(Verse 3)
The echo thundered from the boys crossing from Gamla Stan
Bringing 88 Söderkisar, true men all day long.
And from Östermalm a column marched with pashion and with sway
But they where fighting cause they had to walk the furthest
It was the boys from Stockholm, it was boys with character..
(Verse 4)
And Tegelbacken square was soon emptied of harlots and prostitutes
After the boys came marching from every end of town
The square lay empty and silent in the moons white light
Alwhile the singing rose inbetween the houses
It was the boys from Stockholm, it was boys with character..
(Verse 5)
They stod at Tegelbacken. They stod there man to man
In the pale moonlight, but no one dared to go on the offensive
During four hours they bickered and screamed from each respective allyway
And then they turned around and went back home again.
It was the boys from Stockholm, it was boys with character..
(Verse 6)
But to this day they talk in Stockholm city with terror
Of how the hooligans at Tegelbacken fought three days in a row
And with brass knuckles and spears and with their blood boiling red
Heading to Tegelbacken to set things straight
