Wild Beasts cover Madonna’s “Frozen”

We love it when bands don’t take the “holiday” part of Holiday Undercover too literally; while it’s nice to have some traditional songs—see last week’s Shonen Knife entry—it’s also nice to play with the idea a little bit. That’s exactly what the British band Wild Beasts did, bringing us this intense duo version of Madonna’s 1998 minor hit “Frozen.” There’s a bit more pathos in this version, which was recorded the morning after the 2016 election. Wild Beasts’ latest album, their fifth, is the excellent Boy King.
