Un monde absurde [English translation]
Un monde absurde [English translation]
Each day I emerge from slumber
in an absurd world,
I get up, I'm aleady late.
I swallow a offee and burn myself undergoing the lies
which are sent out on the waves in the morning.
It's monday and depression
is killing me as I go down
the steps of the staircase
four at a time.
In the station I thread my way
through the herd
of zombies who are running towards the office.
I want to take a stand, finish it off,
but this absurd world, nothing stops it;
I would like to escape from it,
but it remembers the same I remember.
SImple pleasure is scarce,
this absurd life turns into a nightmare.
Awakening is pitiless
because reality grants no appeal.
Packed in on the train
I grimace and clench my fists,
Large open spaces parade in my head.
I think of forests,
of oceans and of sorms,
but when the door opens at last...
I see Châtelet-Les-Halles again
and I feel sick,
I dread the day that 's
waiting for me;
eight hours soiling my spirit,
repressing my dreams,
bdarkeningmy lungs with the
zeitgeist.
It's mid-day, the colleagues form
a queue at McDonalds
to devour a big Mac piping
hot.
I eat quite alone on a bench
amongst pigeons,
a cheese and ham
sandwich.
The fithy beasts flock
to the crumbs
that fall to the ground,
forming a big cloud of dust
while I make smalltalk
with a homeless old bum
who describes Paris to me better than
Doisneau1.
My absurd day is at last
nearly finished,
the street-lamps have lit up.
Having arrived at the R.R.R.2 platform,
it's panic:
"a long interruption of service".
When anger builds up in me
I try to stay sensible:
old boy you could be unemployed,
you could be that guy
crushed on the rails in the rush hour
All the same,
I'm not ready to arrive at Villepinte3
