Strákarnir á Borginni [English translation]
Strákarnir á Borginni [English translation]
The boys in Borgin 1
don't shock anyone with their painted smiles
though they kiss and flirt,
walk around with their pink sodas,
their frozen smiles,
in the darkness, white make-up.
I'm well informed,
know all about the gays,
have read books, seen movies.
The boys are alright,
they carry their sins
in a society that hates them.
My son is no homo,
he's perfect just like me.
Though he paints his face on week-ends,
you know what fashion's like.
The boys in Borgin
meet up all Saturday nights
by the bar in the Golden Hall.
Because the world is cold
in the computer age
they walk around warm-mannered.
Doorkeepers hate them,
threaten to castrate,
broil and flay.
Still, the boys smile
and fix their hair.
Because some are queens
and others are princesses.
My son is no homo,
he's perfect just like me.
Though he paints his face on week-ends,
you know what fashion's like.
