how had whole summer passed by,

that age from my salad days,

and you were white as a honeysuckle,

how we were bustling around in the gardens,

we were singing songs on moonlit nights,

you to me, I to you, in neighbour houses,

your hand would touch my hand innocently

and my eyes were looking for you.

while we were kissing, a fear of something

had brought the first sadness to our love.

with the gloom filled up our childish hearts,

we had sat and cried on the pergola, silently.
