Na Radosti [English translation]
Na Radosti [English translation]
The snow and the ice
Are leaving the land.
The wind of sprintime has come just in time.
Look there, it ripples the water of the lakes.
Over there where the water flows from the meadows and fields,
A river runs.
When spring begins, the calm I know sets in
On the simple, bare land.
The instant the ice melts
My heart skips a beat
And grows aware.
I shout for joy in silence.
To be but one with the day
When I forget to breathe,
To not feel, to not see,
To just let go.
To stab with a needle
The purple sky
When they, all alone, weave
My unknown destiny.
To be the secret in a hiding place among the rocks,
Where children leave all their treasures.
And at night, to wave my hand as a signal to the sun
To set in the wordless night.
To be the calm water of a river
That does the bidding of the land.
To be on my knees before its beauty.
To wrap myself in a fine thread.
To forget, to simply stay lying down, immobile.
The gentle night has flown to the heavens,
And the black birds are on their way to the forest,
As if they were calling: come to us.
And I try some to fly.
For the beauty of the ascent,
I learn to fly.
So I drink like a leech,
I drink a little each night,
When the church bells ring for joy in the distance.
And me, from my branches to my roots,
I rise beneath the moon so near
Before melting away into the shadows.
To be but one with the day
When I forget to breathe,
To not feel, to not see,
To just let go.
To stab with a needle
The purple sky
When they, all alone, weave
My unknown destiny.
To be the secret in a hiding place among the rocks,
Where children leave all their treasures.
And at night, to wave my hand as a signal to the sun
To set in the wordless night.
To be the calm water of a river
That does the bidding of the land.
To be on my knees before its beauty.
To wrap myself in a fine thread.
To forget, to simply stay lying down, immobile.
