À Paris [English translation]
À Paris [English translation]
In Paris
when a love blooms
this lasts for weeks making
two hearts to smile at each other
just because they love each other
in Paris
In springtime
the weathervanes on the roofs
turn and make like flirts
with the first wind
that passes indifferent
nonchalant
'Cause the wind
when it comes to Paris
doesn't have but one single concern
this is to go strolling around
in all the beautiful neighbourhoods
of Paris
The sun
who is its old friend
is also a guest at the party
and like two college students
they go on a spree
in Paris
And hand in hand
they go without falling on each other
looking along the way
if Paris has changed
There are always
the hit and run taxis
that board you illegaly
before the taxi stop
where there's still a policeman
for the taxis
At the café
you can see doesn't matter who
drinking doesn't matter what
talking with gestures
and who's there since morning
at the café
There's Seine
at doesn't matter what time
having her visitors
looking into her eyes
these are her lovers
at Seine's
And there are those
those who made their nest
near Seine's bed
and who wash at noon
every day of the week
in Seine
And the others
those who are sick and tired
because they've seen an awful lot
and who want to forget
well they jump there into the water
but Seine...
...she prefers
to see the pretty boats
strolling on her
and on her flow
they play caravels
on Seine
Trouble
there isn't just in Paris
there's in the whole world
yes but the whole world
isn't Paris at all
that's the trouble
In Paris
on the 14th of July
in the light of paper lanterns
we dance without stopping
to the sound of the accordion
in the streets
In Paris ever since
we took Bastille
in all suburbs
and at every crossroad
there are guys
and there are girls
who are running round and round
without rest day and night
on the pavements
in Paris
