Like a fire underneath the earth

The northern lights have burnt the stones

And whitened the roofs of Ghardaïa

Veiled not to be seen

Surrounded by absolute silence

Stony virgins with the body of Diana

The women have for their weariness

Enclosed gardens of solitude

The long sobs of the muslim women

It's a scream

It's also the desert and the wind

All the love they have inside their body

The glory of men and the hymn of the dead

The joy of bearing a child

The fear of men, the fear of the sky

Under the icy wind of the hills

That the night sends them
