On the other side of the bridge

of La Piedad, Michoacán (A city/state in México)

lived Gilberto the Brave.

Born in Apatzingán

Always with a black dog

That was his noble guardian.

He wanted to live with Lupe,

don Julián's girlfriend

A man of wealth

Used to being in charge.

He already knew of Gilberto

And thought to kill him.

One day the dog wasn't there

He came looking for the rival

Gilberto was sleeping

He won't wake up again

A howl was heard

They speak of a bad dog

He was black and enraged

That killed Don Julián

There were the bodies

Lupita didn't go to mourn (cry)

She cut the prettiest flowers

Like to make an altar

And brought(carried) them to the grave

In the municipal cemetery.

There lied a dog

Without food and sleep

He wanted to see his master(owner)

He didn't care to live

Thus, the black dog died

That great guardian

That loved Gilberto a lot

And killed don Julián
