Disney+ to Launch Ad-Supported Subscription Plan in Europe in November

Streamer Disney+ will launch its ad-supported subscription plan across several European countries in November.

The ad-tier was launched in the U.S. in December 2022. From Nov. 1, the new standard with ads, in addition to standard and premium subscription plans, will be available in the U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

The standard with ads and standard plan will come with video quality of up to full HD 1080p with two concurrent streams and sound in 5.1 and stereo. The premium plan will have up to 4K UHD (ultra high definition) and HDR (high dynamic range) video quality, four concurrent streams and Dolby Atmos sound. Downloads are not allowed in standard with ads and are in the other two tiers.

In the U.K. a monthly standard with ads plan will cost 4.99 ($6.35), a monthly standard plan 7.99, an annual standard plan 79.90, a monthly premium plan 10.99 and an annual premium plan 109.90.

In Denmark a monthly standard with ads plan will cost DKK49 ($7.23), a monthly standard plan DKK79, an annual standard plan DKK790, a monthly premium plan DKK109 and an annual premium plan DKK1090.

In France, Germany, Italy and Spain a monthly standard with ads plan will cost 5.99 ($6.59), a monthly standard plan 8.99, an annual standard plan 89.90, a monthly premium plan 11.99 and an annual premium plan 119.90.

Existing customers in Germany will remain in their current subscription, including the current price, which is subject to change in future, from Nov. 1, which will be renamed Disney+ Premium. Existing customers will have the option to switch to the standard with ads plan.

In Norway a monthly standard with ads plan will cost NOK59 ($5.80), a monthly standard plan NOK89, an annual standard plan NOK890, a monthly premium plan NOK119 and an annual premium plan NOK1190.

In Sweden a monthly standard with ads plan will cost SEK59 ($5.54), a monthly standard plan SEK89, an annual standard plan SEK890, a monthly premium plan SEK119 and an annual premium plan SEK1190.

In Switzerland a monthly standard with ads plan will cost CHF7.90 ($9), a monthly standard plan CHF12.90, an annual standard plan CHF129, a monthly premium plan CHF17.90 and an annual premium plan CHF109.90.
