In a mine deep beneath the ground

Worked miners milling coal steadily away

One day the earth quivered with a terrible sound

The bright white light turned to dull grey

A multitude trapped in a dark cell

Except for a light from a hole far above

The opening was the only exit from this hell

Back to the ones they so dearly love

There were no ladders, nor ropes to climb

Only the enginuity of a man-made hill

While the air borrowed slowly the time

The aire of fear began to then instill

Only their combined efforts would let them go

In unison one could crawl aloft

So little by little the human hill did grow

To touch the inspiring light so soft

In a short span, the mine cleared

Not a soul perished in the lot

Deep within, each man's heart cheered

Teamwork was the final plot
