JE COURS [English translation]
JE COURS [English translation]
I'm running, I'm running,
fleeing the day.
I've lost my love,
my lifelong love.
I'm running and I'm raging
to drown my wrath,
to muster some courage
Across the squares,
across the suburbs
in the streets, on the brigdes,
behind the bushes,
I've been running
I've been running
for three days, running,
fleeing the day.
I've lost my love,
my lifelong love.
I'm soaked with sweat,
I'm roaming my emotion.
I don't want to dream
I don't want any digression
There is no speech1
I'll see daylight again.
Soon,
soon I'll be back,
my sorrow shaken off2,
my love uprooted,
sore but victorious,
my sneakers torn,
my love sorely beaten3
I'll see daylight again
I'm soaked with sweat,
I'm roaming my emotion.
I don't want to dream
I don't want any digression
There is no speech
I'll see daylight again.
Soon,
soon I'll be back,
my sorrow shaken off,
my love uprooted,
sore but victorious,
my sneakers torn,
my love sorely beaten
I'll see daylight again
1. does not make much sense in French either. I suppose she means "no speech could help" or "no speech is adequate" or something2. "semer" basically means "sow" but also "shake off" in very common slang3. "battu de court" is an archaic way of saying "thoroughly beaten" (like a horse whipped to exhaustion), I don't really know what she means by that
