Inch'Allah [English translation]

I saw the East / in its gilt shrine

That has the Moon / for its colours

And I wished I /, in three, four lines,

Could sing its Light/ to the whole World.

But when I Saw/ Jerusalem

There on its rock, like a poppy,

It seemed I heard/ a requiem

When I bent for/ward over it.

Humble chapel, can't you see clear ?

You, who Whisper : Peace in the world,

That all the birds / with their wings hide

Fiery letters: Danger, frontier ?

The path leads straight/ to the fountain

You'd like to fill/ up your bucket,

Stop, Magdalene, /coz for these men

Water means more/ than your body.

The olive-tree / mourned its shadow,

Its tender spouse, its good Friend,

That lay on the / rubble below

Prisoner in / enemy Land.

On a Thorn made/ of barbed wire,

The butterfly / glanced at the rose

People are so / brainless they'll try

To chase me, should / I dare to pose..

God of heaven / or God of Hell

You who can ap/ pear at random

Here in this Land/ named Israel ,

There are trembling/ fearful children

The women fall /under the storm

The blood will soon/ be washed away

Out of courage/ is made the way

A woman for / a cobblestone

But, yes, I saw/ Jerusalem

Down on its rock/ like a poppy

I can still hear / this requiem

When I bend for/ward over it

Requiem for / six million souls

That never got/ marble tombstones,

Yet who, despite/ vile sand deserts

Managed to grow/ six.million trees..
