חתולים [Hatulim] [English translation]
חתולים [Hatulim] [English translation]
How should I tell you that I love you
Can't find the right words
So I'm sending you
A cat video
I want to tell you that I've searched you cause love has no limits
But I don't want to stress you so I write
Hey, I saw you changed your profile picture
I want to tell you that I've missed you
But I also want to impress
So I quote Aviv Gefen
"The distance is a key which opened a gate to longing"
I read between the lines of thoughts you've shared that your relationships have been like a dry stream 1
And I want to say
That I'm the flood after the rain
Till now heat waves were enough for you 2
So if you're losing your grip like the falling leaves
Let me bring you the autumn
But I don't want to get you down
So I ask
How are you? What's going on?
Chorus...
I want to say
Do you remember high-school? We lived as if in an adolescent movie
You played the queen of the class and me in the role of the friend
The songs we danced to at prom when you've realized that I'm the one you've been looking for still play in my ears
But it feels cheap so I write
Do you believe how much time passed since high-school? Wow
I want to say
That it's difficult to forget how bitter was the taste of that break up
At the place you stood only air is left with no oxygen and I've tossed and turned in bed expecting you to come back
And you haven't
But I don't want to make you feel bad for it so I write
Lols, I remember the day you went away
And I want to ask why did you not reply to my letters
Why did you fly away like an illusionary butterfly
I want to ask why did you not want my words
Why did you let the abyss of longing
Turn my nights white and paint my days in deep gray
But I want to seem all cool
So I send you the letter 'h' three times 3
Chorus...
And after all
I want you to know how much I've tried
How much I wanted to find the right words
I went and searched in others' songs
And still haven't found how to say that you're
A river of water in the salt of the desert 4
You'll think it's strange for sure
A man of words that says nothing
1. According to a dictionary it's 'winter/seasonal stream' but I think this gets the point across better. 2. Possible reference to the song "שלל שרב" by Gidi Gov, seems like there's no actual literal meaning of the phrase. Just sounded appropriate to the person who named the song. 3. Like 'hahaha' in English. 4. In Hebrew 'drinking water' literally translates as 'sweet water', in contrast to the salt in the desert.
