Chão de giz [English translation]
Chão de giz [English translation]
I get down from this loneliness, spread things on a floor of chalk
There are some foolish day-dreams torturing me
Cut out photographs in repeated pages newspapers
I'll throw you in a confetti-keeping cloth
I'll throw you in a confetti-keeping cloth
I shoot cannonballs, it’s useless because there is a grand vizier
There are so many old violets without a hummingbird
I wished to use maybe a condom or a straightening jacket1
But they won't tease on us,2 merely a cigarette
Nor will I kiss you wasting my lipstick then
Introduction
Now I pick up a truck, get knocked out on the tarpaulin once again
Forever I've been chained to your ankle
My twenty years of "boy, that's over, baby," Freud explains it
I will not get dirty by smoking just one cigarette
Nor will I kiss you wasting my lipstick then
As for the confetti cloth, my carnival is past
And this explains why sex is a popular matter
And furthermore, I’m leaving now 3x
And furthermore...
1. the literal translation would be "Venus or straightening jacket"; a "venus jacket" ("camisa de vênus" in Portuguese) is an old slang for a condom, hence its use in the lyrics); I also changed the order of the ideas, just because it sounds better2. "gozar" in Portuguese can mean both "make fun of" and "cum", "reach orgasm"; so I decided to use "tease" for this which is the more 'sexual' form of "make fun of" I could find
