Earth Crisis: Gomorrah's Season Ends
Boy, it's a good thing Earth Crisis has received so much press attention for its opposition to drugs, alcohol, cruelty to animals and oppression of indigenous peoples. Because if you actually were to listen to one of the band's albums, you wouldn't have the faintest idea what Earth Crisis stands for, though you'll guess it has something to do with shouting unintelligibly. At one point, on Gomorrah's Season Ends' title track, vocalist Karl Buechner hollers "I am straight-edge" enough times that you think you've figured out what he's saying: "I am straight-edge!" A quick scan of the very necessary lyric sheet confirms: "I am straight-edge! I am straight-edge! I am straight-edge! I am straight-edge!" Well, duh. Of course the lead singer of Earth Crisis is straight-edge; he's been on CNN talking about it. You expect Gomorrah's Season Ends to be preachy, but who knew it'd just be some of the dullest, most monotonous hardcore in existence
