Yo soy mexicano [English translation]
Yo soy mexicano [English translation]
I am Mexican, my land is fearless,
I swear as a macho1 that there's no land
as beautiful and fearless as my own land.
I am a Mexican, and I say it with pride.
I was born despising both life and death,
and if I throw threats, I also hold them,
My pride is being a brave and tenacious charro2,
having my sombrero3 embroidered in silver.
so no one can tell me I am a coward,
Ridding my horse without a saddle,
but, above all, always being in love.
I am a troublemaker Mexican.
Lucky me, I'm Mexican.
Life has wanted that I'm everywhere
recognized for my bravery.
I am Mexican, I trust no one,
and, as Cuauhtémoc4, whenever I'm suffering,
I won't run away. I'll hold on and laugh.
I like my sombrero leaning on a side,
having a gun with deer antler hilt,
smoking chopped tobacco in a paper,
betting at roosters' fights, knowing I'm famous,
but, above all, always being in love.
I'm a troublemaker Mexican.
