1. "последний" in reference to a time period means "this, current, recent, latest", never "last/previous". That would be "прошлый". It may be translated as "last" only in the meaning of "final" 2. The first-night performance was in October 1990 at a tribute concert to Viktor Tsoi who had tragically died in a traffic accident two months before 3. I think the band leader Yury Shevchuk expressed what was in the air. The USSR had been disintegrating, the next year it broke up. So technically speaking the autumn of 1990 was the final autumn of the Soviet era when the USSR still functioned as a state 4.
