Silverback lyrics
Silverback lyrics
I come to see him in winter
When all is quiet and inside
The chilly walks shy off visitors
And moments of solitude come
The prattle of crowds is far away
Behaving natural and actively
The few humans are less bothersome
Some welcomed, of the troop
I sit nearby the exhibit's view
Silent, side-sitting, indirect
That it will not be confrontational
Patiently, inobviously alert
Slowly, surely comes a comrade
A kindred spirit compassionate
He sits very near mirroring pose
To share some time in company
I do not know if he has memories
That link us endearingly to his past
But our eyes both communicate
Mutual kindness and gentleness
Others do not understand
Puzzled by our actions dear
An unspeaking bond unbroken
Between two beings near
The daily depression of a cage
By any other name, unfree
We are bound by ill-gotten fate
That separates possibilities
He must wonder where I go
As I wonder how he is now
Those thoughts to realize so
That a universe is but a cage
