Flickan och kråkan [English translation]
Flickan och kråkan [English translation]
I was sitting and reading a newspaper the other day
A day like many others before
And I thought about all the dreams I've dreamt that
One by one have come to an end
Then I saw a picture of a girl
With a wonded crow in her arms
She's running away through the forest
As fast as she possibly can
And she's running with her ringlets wavering
She's running with skinny legs
And she's begging and praying and hoping and believing
That she won't be too late
The girl is small and her hair is bright
And her cheek is pulsating of red
The crow is clumsy and croakingly black
Within a moment it'll be dead
But the girl, she's running for her life
With a wounded bird in her arms
She's running towards comfort and warmth
Towards that which is real and true
And she's running with glistening eyes
She's running with skinny legs
Because she knows that it's true, her father has said so
That if there's life it's never too late
And I started to shiver from anguish and misery
I was shaking from fear and freight
Because I knew very well
That I'd seen myself in the picture
Because my hope is wounded crow
And I'm a running child
That believes that there's someone that can still help me
That believes that there's someone with an answer
And I'm running with a pounding heart
I'm running with skinny legs
And I beg and I pray, even though I know
That it's already too late
