Big City Bug Lights lyrics
Big City Bug Lights lyrics
Big city bug lights lit in LED
They attract the unknowing
Drawing them into its grasp
A fantasy world shining on
The seasons of the year
Alit in brilliant neon's glow
Where brick and cement dull
And conceal its magnificence
The blue of a winter's recent snow
The green of spring's young buds
The yellow of summer's bright days
And orange of fall's turned leaves
Simple things, nature brings
Consigned to a central park
An island of green floating
Upon a sea of grey and black
The mountains are windowed
Their peaks topped by antennas
They look as though child's blocks
Stacked and cast so haphazardly
Humanity scurries about as if ants
They trudge off to some destination
Departing and arriving from nowhere
Hurriedly and impatiently skittering
If the power went out what then
What would guide these bugs on
Drones in a packed hive of chaos
Incohesive, disoriented bands
A life lived apart from other beings
Though surrounded by suspects
To walk a single path for but self
A strange affair is humanity dense
No code of conduct pressuring
Small towns that know it all
Inescapable indiscretions fall
And the blur of big cities conceal
What grows in concrete and steel
The meager screaming souls
Begging to get out of their cells
To run alone, free and untethered
The end it comes in the bug lights
Attracted to the brilliant lure
Where temptation overrides will
And the spirit succumbs to red
